Wood chip exports from Australia fell in 2011 to their lowest level in 11 years and Vietnam took over as world’s largest chip exporter, reports the Wood Resource Quarterly Vietnam has taken over Australia as the world’s largest supplier of wood chips to pulp mills in Asia. In 2011, Vietnam exported 5.4 million tons, triple that in 2007, as reported in the Wood Resource Quarterly. The good news for wood chip exporters in both Vietnam and Australia has been the steady increase in demand for hardwood chips from China.

Profit after net financial items amounted to SEK 138 (-69) million for the full year 2010 while the operating profit amounted to SEK 138 (-166) million for the full year 2010. New research project investigate the best fast-growing tree species for planting in Africa

Now SIDA grant 3.9 million SEK to investigate the best fast-growing tree species for planting in Africa. The goal of this project is to identify drought tolerant fast growing tree that can produce wood of sufficient quality to be used in the construction industry or in the pulp and paper industry according to a press release.
