Students participating in the project "SIRIUS - Creative Product framtagining" at Luleå University of Technology has developed a unit for more efficient planting of seedlings. The project is a collaboration with among others the company Bracke Forest and is one of six projects in the SIRIUS presented at the university.
The biggest problem is that plants have very different characteristics. In addition, the roots are sometimes entangled in each other. The Solution was not to pull the plants out of the cassette, but instead pushing them out from below with an expander mechanism.
It is not yet decided how to commercialize the product.
