Smarter pulp process saves electricity

Manufacturer of mechanical pulp can save both energy and money to adjust the process of chipping the logs shows a doctor thesis by Lisbeth Hellström at Mid Sweden University. Energy consumption can be reduced by up to twenty percent. Swedish paper industry consumes 5-6 terawatt hours of electricity per year to produce mechanical pulp which make it possible to save approx. one terawatt hours of electricity by adjusting the process of mechanical pulp in Sweden.
