
Norske Skog Bio Bio in Chile was hit by an earthquake in February 2010. As a consequence, all production at the mill was stopped. The mill started up on April 30, 2010. The Bio Bio mill in Conception is now returned to normal operations. The force majeure announcement of 3 March 2010 is therefore revoked. About 50 per cent of newsprint production is for domestic Chilean newsprint market. The other 50 per cent of the mill’s newsprint production is exported to other South American countries. Earthquake striked Chile 28th of February which stands for 7-8% of the world production of softwood pulp.
