The new diesel, derived from pine oil is a by-product of pulp and paper industry, will be marketed under the name Evolution diesel. The clever thing with this new pine diesel is that it works in existing diesel engines and can be refueled from existing stations and pumping stations or farms forestry companies.
SunPine is owned by the inventor Lars Stig's company, together with Preem, Södra and Sveaskog. The new plant in Piteå is the world's first plant producing green pine diesel in industrial scale. A total of 100 million liters will be produced annually.
Forest companies Södra and Sveaskog thinking namely refuel their trucks, harvesters, forwarders and tractors with the green pine-diesel produced at its own factory, SunPine. The new diesel will be shipped to the Preem refinery in Gothenburg, to which is mixed with ordinary conventional fossil diesel. Blending will be 25 percent.
