M-real can make three to seven days

March 5, 2010 by timbercommunity

If the stevedore strike continues the paper manufacturer M-real will manage three to seven days before the company will consider closing one plant.

CIO Sanna Väisänen makes the following statement to the magazine in Österbotten. "We are classifying our plants she continues at this stage we can not say anything specific about the various factories. -For the company it has been decided that the activity persists for three to seven days, depending on the situation. Mainly, it depends on the availability of raw materials and storage pace for the final product, ie paper. The main concern is however our exports. Väsiänen continues -The products must be placed somewhere and without the raw materials nothing can be produced.
In Ostrobothnia, the M-Real mill has a plant in Kaskö. The Forest company Stora Enso announced on Thursday that it will close its factories in Oulu (Uleåborg) and Kemi in a few days if the strike continues.  UPM has already closed its paper mill in Rauma.
