Forest companies examined about offenses against the FSC standard

The certification organization FSC plan to review charges against several forest companies about offenses against the FSC standard.
 

Nature Conservation Society has repeatedly accused the certified forest companies including SCA to not protect forests. Several areas in both Jämtland and Västernorrland has been identified as areas where forest companies violated the FSC standard. A few months ago the Swedish Nature Conservation organisation decided to leave FSC because companies were not punished.
Now FSC will start to investigate the allegations. This fall there will be a review of logging companies felling. But even if the investigation shows that the companies violated the FSC standard, it is not certain that they will lose their license. - The idea of the system is not that there should be a system of penalties, but a system that shows how to do your job, "says My Laurell, operations manager at FSC in an interview in the newspaper ATL.
