July 4, 2010 by timbercommunity

A new ruling by the Environment Court on the poison PCP from the sawmill in Hjortsberg. In an interview with Smålandsposten Södra agree with the Environment Court ruling about the case of sawmill sites in Hjortsberga but environmental manager Roine Morin thinks the sentence from the court is difficult to understand.

Roine Morin told the newspaper that the whole process has gone too fast since it concern activites 40 years back in time and many of the people involved are not active in the company any more. - We are still investigating what to do. According to appeal Södra will stand for 40 percent of the cost. It is more reasonable than the County Administrative Board's first commandment: 90 percent.
On October 1 Södra are planning to continue the investigation of the area. It is to find out in detail the poison was PCP, which was used to protect the logs from rotting, there. Then you can clean up small areas, which will not be so expensive as to decontaminate the whole area. Roine Morin believes that all data can be ready by the end of the year.
