Brazilian Forest Code discussed

Environmental NGOs and companies in the pulp and paper industry delivered in 16th of March 3 to the chairman of the Brazilian House of Representatives (Câmara dos Deputados) mr Marco Maia (PT-RS), a proposal for a consensus on controversial points of the new Brazilian Forest Code (Código Florestal).

Among the topics discussed were Permanent Preservation Areas (Áreas de Preservação Permanente), rural area, use of the hilltop and the concepts of ownership and possession of small rural families. The proposed agreement was discussed during seven months by the Forest Dialogue (Diálogo Florestal), and the discussion group comprised alltogether of 28 NGOs and 32 companies in the sector among them Fibria.
