Biofuel production will rise by more than 100% over next decade according to OECD and UN food and agricultre association. Also the shares of the different agricultural commodities used for ethanol and biodiesel production (molasses, vegetable oil, coarse grains, sugar beet, wheat and sugar cane) in global production are expected to increase strongly during 2010-2019.
There is a growing demand from emerging markets and for biofuel production. Almost 40% of the increase in global ethanol production should be due to the increase in the production of ethanol based on sugar cane, mainly from Brazil, to meet both domestic and US demands.
