VCP is one of the leaders in the pulp and paper industry in Brazil, and one of the largest undertakings of the Votorantim Group. Its integrated operation goes from timber production to product distribution to end consumers. The concern with product quality starts even before eucalyptus cultivation, with investments in genetic improvement.
The industrial and forestry units are located in the State of São Paulo. Its forestry base has around 314,000 planted hectares with eucalyptus and nearly 200,000 hectares of native woods preserved in the States of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul. VCP also operates a terminal in the Port of Santos, in addition to managing three offices abroad (Switzerland, China and United States) and a port terminal in Belgium.
In 2007, the company’s net revenue was R$2.6 billion, and it reached a historical record in pulp sales: 1.6 million tons. Pulp sales amounted to 500,000 tons. Of the total sold, 61% was exported to more than 60 countries over the five continents.
A 20-year-old company, VCP achieved recognition due to its performance, solidity and transparency. It is a publicly-held company, with shares traded in the São Paulo Stocks Exchange and ADRs in the New York market.
Sustainability is part of the business strategy. Forestry foment programs are an example – it has rural producers as partners and eucalyptus cultivation associated to other cultures –forestry handling which takes into account environmental, social and economic criteria, and a production process with clean technologies.
